Description

The peatland is located 5 km northwest of the city Kärdla and formed by paludification in depresion, feeding on spring water. Water recipient is into the Baltic Sea. The area of the peatland is 75 ha, of which the peat deposit is 15 ha. The thickness of the peat deposit is 0.85 m and it consists of moss peat, with a low wood content. Ash content is 11.2%, pH 5.0, decomposition is 35%. The peat reserves are 0.12 million tons . The deposit is partly cultivated as cultural grassland. It is recommended to leave in its current state. It is also not included in the list of usable peat areas compiled by the Ministry of the Environment (Regulation no. 87; 27.12,2016).
